Electric Vehicle (EV) and EV Charging Infrastructure Plans

Electric vehicle (EV) and EV charging infrastructure plans provide states with a framework to guide the development, coordination, and adoption of EVs and EV charging infrastructure. These plans often establish or outline a state’s goals for a desired number of registered EVs, number of EV charging stations, and policies to achieve these goals. Plans may also consider grid integration, charging infrastructure, general education efforts, and ways low-income and/or environmental justice (EJ) communities can benefit from transportation electrification. Plans can direct the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) to establish a policy to encourage utility investment in EV charging infrastructure.

EV Charging Infrastructure Mapping Tools

An overview of two mapping tools – the Regional EV Charging Infrastructure Location Identification Toolkit (ILIT) and the Evaluation and Development of Regional Infrastructure for Vehicle Electrification (E-DRIVE) – that can inform discussions between policymakers, local communities, and other stakeholders in considering priority locations for electric vehicle fast charging infrastructure investments.
