New Jersey

New Jersey is more densely populated with both people and roads than any other state in the country, contributing to the transportation sector’s majority share of emissions in the state. New Jersey imports nearly 20% of its power from neighboring states and the vast majority of in-state generation comes from natural gas and nuclear energy. Greenhouse gas emissions in the state have dropped by 25% from 2006-2021.
