Louisiana

More than half of Louisiana’s greenhouse gas emissions come from the industrial sector, and its industrial activity has increased over the last two decades, including chemical manufacturing and oil and gas production. The state is home to abundant fossil fuel reserves and many of the country’s offshore oil wells. Because the southern portion of the state is situated atop many layers of sediment from the Mississippi River, Louisiana is at severe risk for land loss due sea level rise, and many of the state’s climate actions have targeted coastal resilience.
