Maryland’s greenhouse gas emissions have fallen by 31% from 2006-2021, primarily due to a significant decrease in electricity emissions. The transportation sector accounts for the majority of the state’s emissions and have risen by 18% during the same time period. The state’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets are some of the most ambitious targets in the nation set by the Climate Solutions Now Act of 2022.
